Besides the expected compounds having to do with women of nobility like 姫君【ひめぎみ】 (Daughter of a high-ranking person), 姫 appears in a variety of words relating to the natural world: 姫蟻【ひめあり】 (the ant species Monomorium intrudens), 姫鼠【ひめねずみ】(the fieldmouse species Apodemus argenteus), among others.
